Laser
Technicians assemble,test, maintain, and operate different
kinds of lasers and systems that use lasers. Lasers use a
beam of optical or light power that has been converted from
electrical power. Laser technicians work with the assembly
and production of laser systems and laser devices, they prepare
them for maintenance and operation, troubleshooting, repair,
research, development, sales and service.

is it related to chemistry?
The
job of a laser technician is related to chemistry because
they have to prepare lasers that will be used in medical surgery.

educational background is needed?
The
educational background needed to be a laser technician is
usually a two-year technical school or a two-year course at
a community college. During these two years, students spend
more time in the lab than they they do in the classroom. Often
in the second year of study, a student will take part in special
laser-related projects. Aside from this two-year experience,
students must have a general interest in math and science,
and enjoy lab-type projects.

An
average salary is anywhere from $22,000 a year for a starting
laser technician, to $40,000 for an experienced or private
laser technician.

are the working conditions?
As I said before, there are many different kinds of laser
technicians. The working conditions vary from case to case.
They may work in labratories, hospital operating rooms, construction
sites and manufacturing plants.A stationary laser technician
who assembles and operates lasers in the same place every
day would stay there all the time, there would not be very
much travelling. Some laser technicians travel around the
country, if they work in sales or marketing. Also, other laser
technicians work in a lab or on a production site

There
are many jobs in this field, and they are all very different.
Some laser technicians work in labs or offices, while some
travel and hold service positions. The outlook of oppurtunities
for laser technicians was good in the 1990's, and still continues
to be. This is due to the continued growth in the industry.
