What does a mechanical engineer do?
"A mechanical engineers research,
develop, design, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines,
and other mechanical devices. They also develop machines such
as air conditioning."
Mechanical engineers have to be able
to work with a team of other engineers. Many mechanical engineers
work in labs but others can have their own business."Mechanical
engineers work in many industries, and their work varies by
each. Some of the specialties are manufactoring, energy systems,
heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems."
Mechanical engineering is related to
chemistry because mechanical engineers have to compute formulas,
research, and make sure all chemicals go together for the
production of their products.
In order to be a mechanical engineer
you need at least a bachelors degree.

"There were about 220,000 mechanical
engineering jobs in 2000. Employment of mechanical engineers
is expected to grow slowly through 2010. Some feilds of mechanical
engineering will grow faster than others." According
to a 2001 salary survey by the National Association Of Colleges
and Employers, bachelor's degree mechanical engineers received
about $48,000 a year, master degree mechanical engineers averaged
about $55,000, Ph.D. averaged a salary about $72,000.
