A Quality Control Chemist is responsible for seeing that products meet manufacturer requirements. "They perform on raw materials, bulk formulations, finished products, stability samples, and any other samples that require chemical analysis." They conduct research and analysis in support of operations, product development, quality control, and many more applications. "These chemists are employed in research, development and quality control laboratories."

A typical entry requirement is a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or in a related study and a Master's or doctorate degree. · Experience with HPLC, GC, Dissolution Testing, and Raw Materials Testing.

BA or BS in chemistry or a minimum of two years of college level chemistry.

· 2-3 years of experience in a lab performing chemistry related duties. ·

Duties

· Analyze, synthesize, purify, modify, and characterize chemical or biochemical compounds. · Develop an analysis to ensure quality control of raw materials.

· Establish programs to identify and quantify environmental toxicants.

· Conduct research to develop new formulations and technical applications of industrial chemicals.

· Investigate chemical aspects of drug action, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, organ function, and the assessment of health.

· Take part in research amongst other professionals in different fields like biology, chemical engineering, and geology.

· You may also lead other chemists or technicians. Average Salary is between 30,00-50,00, but varies based on experience, title, and type of work being required.

Over the next few years, an "average of less than 10 openings are expected to be created each year in this occupation." Majority will come from vacant positions, needing to be and the rest will be due to industry growth.
