Historic Site Project
U.S. History/Literature
Grade 10

Assignment : Choose a historic site in the Boston area. Working in groups of 4 or 5, visit a pre-1800 site. Find out about what happened at the site by doing research. Keep a research log. Prepare a Web site and present it to the class.

Grading Procedure

Each project will include the following parts:   Evaluation of all aspects of the project will be based on these criteria:
  • Research log. Your research log will include the historic site visit form and notes made from each source you use. You must use information from at least two books, in addition to approved Web sites. Include a bibliography.

  • Web site. Each group will prepare a Web site including a picture from their visit, a description of the historic site, and links to the reports of the group members. Each student will prepare a Web page describing some aspect of the historic site.

  • Class presentation. Each group will make a presentation of its Web site and the results of its research
 
  • imagination and creativity
  • skill of execution
  • evidence of a questioning attitude
  • good "detective" work
  • demonstration of historical understanding
  • bibliography
