MISSION

Mount Alvernia’s mission is to provide a strong academic education within the Franciscan tradition that will prepare our students for higher education and provide them with the tools to make good choices throughout their lives. We foster a community that promotes compassion and confidence in young women and instills in them the responsibility of service.

PHILOSOPHY

Since 1927, Mount Alvernia High School has encouraged young women of vision and action. As a Catholic community in the Franciscan ideal of service to others, Mount Alvernia's engenders a sense of communal belonging. We are committed to instilling the spiritual and intellectual values that will enable our students to discern the good and to make their choices accordingly. One of our strongest traditions is our community service program, which enables each student to take responsibility and practice the principles that guide our community.

Mount Alvernia’s academic atmosphere is supportive, challenging, and unique. We strive to understand each of our students in order to tailor an academic environment that rewards both their effort and achievement. While we believe that each subject in our course of studies has a specific focus, our curriculum is founded on the premise that all subjects are interrelated and a strong interdisciplinary education works to encourage reflection, foster an ability to connect learning with experience and instill a spirit of action.
