SCHOLARSHIPS
Franciscan Scholarship
An academic scholarship in the amount of $6,000.00 is awarded to incoming seventh, eighth or ninth graders based on their achievement on the entrance examination and the fulfillment of all other admissions requirements (admissions application, elementary school grades, recommendations from elementary school teachers, and a personal interview with a member of the MAHS admissions committee). This scholarship is renewable annually, as long as the recipient maintains an 87 average and chooses the highest course level offered in each subject each academic year.
Criteria for Initial Award:
The student
- Completes the Mount Alvernia High School application process
- Scores at least 95% on the Mount Alvernia High School entrance exam or on the Archdiocesan High School Entrance Exam
- Has an elementary school GPA of at least B+
- Obtains a letter of recomendation from her elementary school principal
- Demonstrates a record of school or community service
- Demonstrates a record of leadership
- Completes an essay of 200-250 words in which she describes her involvement in school or community service and her record of leadership
Criteria for Renewal
The student
- Is representative of the values of Mount Alvernia High School High School
- Shows evidence of leadership, service and character
- Completes the number od commjnity ervice hours consistent with her grade level
- Actively participates in co-curricular activities
- Maintains an average of 87 and chooses the highest course level offered in each subject
A committee composed of teachers from each grade level will nominate students for these scholarships. Final decision resides with the Head of School .
