When we experience drama, music, art, or literature, we grow in knowledge and sensitivity. Education cannot neglect this dimension of being human. Aesthetic awareness is an essential component of the Mount Alvernia program, and we sponsor many activities that encourage the creative spirit.
At Mount Alvernia, we provide opportunities for students in grades 7-12 to participate in drama both in and outside of school hours and consider theatrical performances a vital part of our curriculum. We also boast a Choir and a Chorus that meet weekly to plan music for our liturgies and prepare for choral concerts. Students also make frequent field trips to local Boston museums.
We are proud to announce that our art program has been extended to include the 7th and 8th grade starting in September 2009.
