Go Mustangs!

Participating in sports is a key part of the MAHS experience for many of our students. Each student-athlete learns self-discipline, responsibility and friendship while developing their skills on the playing field.

Our athletic program has 12 varsity sports spanning all seasons.

Our coaches are first and foremost teachers who instruct our students in athletic skills, encourage them to participate and demonstrate the rewards and triumphs of teamwork.

Our students complete each competition and athletic season with a strong sense of fulfillment, achievement, and dedication. Through athletics, our students develop self- esteem and a sense of personal identity; they also learn to appreciate the value of cooperation and respect for competitors.

Concussion Awareness Week

Concussion Awareness Week is a week-long event in partnership with the MIAA  and ThinkTaylor to help raise awareness and provide education for concussion safety. Playing sports and staying active is important to us all and we don’t want that to change.  The more educated we all are on the dangers of not reporting a concussion, the better decisions we will make for our students, ourselves and our families.

To recognize this week, our athletes received an orange sweatband and/or educational bag tag. ThinkTaylor asks the coaches and teams to take the #TTPedge.  Mount Alvernia is posting pictures on Twitter and Facebook, and tagging @ThinkTaylorORG.

MIAA Team Excellence Award

Our student-athletes are regularly awarded the MIAA Team Excellence Award.
Each team for 2015-2016 received the Gold Level award, for a team grade average of between an 85 and 100.
The MIAA Board of Directors has established these awards to encourage and support the academic accomplishments of student-athletes.
