Senior Nets Milestone for Mount Alvernia

Luca P. ‘17 became the 4th person in Mount Alvernia High School’s athletic history to score 1000 points in her career as a Mustang.

The guard scored 29 points at the Mustang’s winning game against Maimonides on January 3 in Brookline. They won 60-55. She only needed 11 points to reach the milestone.

She also made 5 assists during the game.

Before the home game against Norfolk Agricultural High School,  Coach Cavanaugh and the team presented Luca with the game ball from the night before, signed with the date of her 1000th point.

Since then, she has averaged 20 points per game, 4.6 assists per game with 68% at the free throw line and 17 three pointers a game, for an average of 3.4.

She now has 1,089 points for her career and is on pace to end her career with 1,349 not including tournament games.

The MAHS Athletic Department has named her January’s Athlete of the Month.

The Boston Herald named Luca as one of the players to watch in Division 4 girls basketball.
