Our athletic program is designed to provide each student-athlete with the opportunity to practice and participate in a safe environment, to be creative in her sport, and to promote a spirit of self-discipline, responsibility, and friendship to her school, teammates, and coaches.
Our coaches are first and foremost teachers who instruct our students in athletic skills, encourage them to participate, and demonstrate the rewards and triumphs of teamwork and collaboration.
Our students complete each competition and athletic season with a strong sense of fulfillment, achievement, and dedication. Through athletics, our students develop self- esteem and a sense of personal identity; they also learn to appreciate the value of cooperation and respect for competitors.
The students of Mount Alvernia High School's Fall, Winter and Spring sports teams are regularly awarded the MIAA Team Excellence Award, Gold and Silver Level, which recognize team members who maintain a GPA of between 3.0- 4.0 (Gold) and 2.5 – 2.99 (Silver). The Board of Directors has established these awards to encourage and support the academic accomplishments of student-athletes.
