We view these grades not only as preparation for a college education, but also as a transition to independent thinking and scholarship. Building on the foundation of strong study skills that we foster during grades 7 & 8, we strive to challenge our students to achieve their full potential. During these years, we place a particular emphasis on leadership and independence, encouraging our girls to be independent thinkers who appreciate even more the connections between academic scholarship and its real-life applications.
Our curriculum continues to build on the traditional program of study, English, math, science, theology, and history, but also integrates more contemporary electives such as environmental science, film criticism, psychology, economics and business leadership. To this end, our students are exposed to both a core curriculum and more diverse courses that may pique their interest for future studies and career choices.
The concluding project of the grade 9-12 experience is The Senior Symposium: a culmination of years of preparation in English and history. This experience serves to demonstrate our students’ ability to pursue independent research and literary analysis and allows them to exhibit their written and oral command of their chosen material. Most importantly, the Senior Symposium enables them to apply what they have learned, providing them with a sense of confidence in their accomplishments.
