Throughout December, Campus Ministry and Clare’s Club, our community service-focused student group, held a number of successful drives for food, books and toys.
One of the drives was organized by Grace M. ’19 for Cradles to Crayons.
Grace is a member of the Teen Leadership Corps for Cradles to Crayons. As a teen leader, she serves as our ambassador to Cradles to Crayons, coordinates drives to collect donations and volunteers at their Giving Factory.
“I take so many things for granted like education, clothing, new school supplies, and shoes, but not everyone has that privilege. I want to try to give to children who are less fortunate then me because every children deserves cleaning clothing,” said Grace.
She collected 15 laundry bags of gently used warm clothing and winter coats for children. The drive was launched during the Christmas Tree Sale and lasted a week.
Grace points out that she has a lot of support at MAHS, especially from Mrs. Deb McCourt, our Campus Minister.
“Without her, my drive could not have been possible,” said Grace.
Teen Leadership Corps is a program providing middle and high school students with the opportunity to learn leadership skills through volunteer projects and raising awareness about the work of Cradles to Crayons.
Several Mount Alvernia High School students have served on the Teen Leadership Corps in the past, in addition to students fulfilling their community service hours at the Giving Factory.
