CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAM


Mount Alvernia believes that all of one’s experiences are part of the educational process and that learning is not confined to the classroom alone. Because of this belief, each student is required to actively participate in co-curricular activities.  The co-curricular coordinator is available to assist students in selecting activities that will allow them to expand their interests and fulfill their nonacademic potential. Parents/guardians are asked to encourage their daughters to take full advantage of the co-curricular program. The following activities are available:

*Members of photography, yearbook, newspaper and literary magazine clubs will be required to sign a contract indicating their agreement with school policy prohibiting the copying of photographs for personal use.

Student Evaluation

Each quarter students are evaluated on their participation in their chosen co-curricular activities, and a Co-Curricular Activities Evaluation Form is completed and attached to the quarterly report card. Activity moderators rate a student’s participation using the following scale:

Definition
v = satisfactory participation The student has fulfilled the requirements for active participation in the activity.
NC = no credit/unsatisfactory participation The student has not fulfilled the requirements for active participation in the activity.
TW = temporarily withdrawn The student has temporarily withdrawn from the activity due to a seasonal sport or Drama Club and has informed the moderator as such.
The student is expected to resume active participation as soon as the schedule conflict ends.
W = withdrawn The student has permanently withdrawn from the activity.
