EVENTS

At  Mount Alvernia academic rigor is balanced with laughter. We believe in nurturing the spirit and enthusiasm of our students through a wide variety of social experiences. Annual school events mark each year’s passage as well as each student’s progress.

October’s Olympic Day is the most colorful day on our campus. Teams arrayed in orange, blue, green, silver or other wild patterns vie each year for the fabled victory torch. (Note: the faculty team has never won!) The only other day that rivals Olympic Day is Spirit Day when everyone dresses outrageously in blue and gold. A senior spirit queen is crowned and reigns at the pep rally with a court of the most spirited underclass women.

Some of our other events include a spring Talent Show, which showcases the virtuosity of our students; Christmas Movie Night, when seniors decorate a tree in the dining room; World Awareness Day, which links us to the larger world and raises the consciousness of the entire school through senior-led workshops, visiting speakers and international foods; and the annual Prom Fashion Show, which offers a runway preview of the latest gowns and raises money for scholarships.

Different events each year celebrate our students. At the Junior Ring Ceremony students receive their class rings; at the annual Foundress Day Prayer Service and Awards Ceremony we recognize the effort and achievement of students; and at the Senior Sundae Goodbye in May, we bid farewell to the graduating class.
